What is Dental Sedation?

With dental sedation, we have a variety of techniques we can use to help patients feel more comfortable during dental procedures. Our dentist can help determine if either nitrous oxide or oral sedation options are right for you.

At North Delta Dental Professionals, we do everything in our power to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental appointments. Along with offering dental sedation options, we are committed to working at your pace, taking breaks if you're feeling overwhelmed, and providing calm reassurance as needed.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

This medication helps calm patients when inhaled through the nose and mouth. However, they will remain awake and able to communicate. It also tends to increase pain threshold, lessen anxiety, make time pass more quickly and reduce gag reflex.

Oral Sedation

Your dentist can prescribe oral sedatives in liquid or pill form to be taken orally before your dental appointment. Though you'll be awake for the procedure, the medication can produce a calming effect to leave you feeling significantly relaxed.
